WISD 457 Program

The WISD 457 program was instituted in 2003 offering the Security Benefit “Advisor Mutual Fund” investments through Albin Campbell.

Voya’s voluntary 457 program is offered by the State of Michigan as part of their retirement package.

In the same manner which WISD has transformed over the years Security Benefit’s 457 has had significant transformations.

As a WISD employee you have several options of saving for your future retirement. Generally you have 401k, 403(b) and 457 programs to participate in. Due to your employment status, WISD provides you with the opportunity to participate in all of them simultaneously. Each program offers unique features for your benefit.

I’m summarizing key features of the Security Benefit offering based on years of working with WISD employees. All program details are contained in the Security Benefit materials provided.

Investment options, Fee’s and (How do I get paid?) Commissions are the top questions I receive.

Target Dated Funds
Through Vanguard & T. Rowe Price. Often considered a “Set it and Forget it” approach

Individual Mutual Funds
Over 130 funds representing all asset classes to build your own portfolio.  Morningstar 4-&-5 star rated funds by asset class information is provided.

By the way:  Due to the WISD program being grandfathered you have a larger fund selection than current Security Benefit programs.

Portfolios Created by Mesirow
Mesirow Financial Services established in 1937, employee owned, headquartered in Chicago, offices worldwide with $215 billion of assets under management.

Vanguard Passive Asset Allocation Portfolio

Target Portfolios by Mesirow Financial

Internal mutual fund fees average 1.06%.

Portfolio fees are less and outlined in their materials.

Security Benefit charges administrative fees that are disclosed in material provided.

Only two (2) options exist, options 3 & 4. Materials with details are provided.

In closing, Security Benefit materials are very transparent with regard to the details of their 457 program.

Maybe the most important benefit of my offering is your ability to have a conversation with me as we determine how to use your resources.

I look forward to our conversations.
