The Technology Department has been alerted to a number of emails and shared files being sent out that contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Attackers can potentially cause a lot of damage if they gain access to this information. If you need to deliver PII or FERPA protected information, please do so either through encrypted email or over the phone.
Sensitive personally identifiable information includes:
- Employee personnel records and tax information, including Social Security number and Employer Identification Number
- Passport information
- Medical records covered by HIPAA laws
- Credit and debit card numbers
- Banking accounts
- Electronic and digital account information, including email addresses and internet account numbers
- Passwords
- Biometric information
- School identification numbers and records
- Private personal phone numbers, especially mobile numbers
- FERPA protected student information and educational records
