Court Involved Youth

Education services are provided by Washtenaw ISD to the Washtenaw County Jail and the Youth Detention Center, located at 4125 Washtenaw Avenue, Ann Arbor MI, 48104.  Our team of educators works across both facilities to offer both general and special education services. Each student remains a local district student and the WISD is a service provider, not a district.  Credit recommendations are completed by the WISD educational team and provided to the student's resident district to be added to their school transcript. Credits may only be granted by the local school district based upon the local district board-approved standards. The WISD does not graduate students or issue diplomas. Local school districts award diplomas when the necessary credits have been attained. Our education team works closely with local district staff on topics such as special education, program progress, transition planning, and other activities.
