Grant Reimbursement Information

WISD is the fiscal agent for several grant consortia within and around Washtenaw County.  Many of these grants are administered via reimbursement request.  Once allowable expenses have been accrued by districts, documentation is provided to WISD for review and reimbursement.

  • IDEA Flowthrough - All local districts and public school academies in Washtenaw County receive federal Special Education funding.
  • IDEA Preschool - Local districts receive federal funding to educate preschool aged students.
  • Early Intervention is federally mandated for children ages 0-3 who have or are suspected of having disabilities.  Early On  is the State of Michigan Early Intervention program.

  • Head Start is a program that provides comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children ages 3- and 4- and their families.
  • Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) provides a nourishing program for 4-year olds and their families to enhance children’s self-esteem, social and emotional, cognitive, and physical development, in a hands on developmentally appropriate and safe setting.  Learn more about WISD's Head Start/GSRP Collaborative
  • Career and Technical Education: The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act provides funding to support and improve career and technical education programs, consistent with state and regional high skill, high wage, and high demand occupations.　
  •  Adult Education:  Multi-County consortium that provides Adult Education

Maintenance of Effort (MOE) The purpose of the MOE requirement is to ensure that LEAs provide the financial support necessary to make a free appropriate public education (FAPE) available to eligible children with disabilities. Generally, LEAs may not reduce the amount of local, or State and local, funds that they spend on the education of children with disabilities when compared to the preceding fiscal year.  MDE's Website is full of useful information regarding LEA Maintenance of Effort.

Michigan Electronic Grants System Plus (MEGS+) is an automated Web-based information system used to create, submit, approve, track, and amend grant applications. The system was implemented in 2011, replacing the Michigan Electronic Grants System (MEGS) and Child Nutrition Application Program (CNAP) system.
