What are SCECHs?

Per the Michigan Department of Education:

MDE's SCECHs Overview Page

State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECH) are hours earned by attending professional development activities provided by SCECH Sponsors and approved by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE). These hours can be used for renewal and progression of certificates and licenses issued by MDE.

Visit the MDE website and explore their Catalog of Professional Learning Opportunities, Instructional Videos, Non-Traditional SCECH Programs Transition Guidance, and more.

Effective July 1, 2020 - New District Provided Professional Development (DPPD) Reporting Process

Per the Michigan Department of Education:

Effective July 1, 2020, when districts choose to allow DPPD to be used for recertification, they must enter it into the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS) as State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs). This process replaces Individual Educator Entry and the requirement for districts to review and sign each educator’s individual DPPD form.

Non-Traditional SCECH Notice:

All School Based Non-Traditional SCECHs are now to be included in a school’s District Provided Professional Development (DPPD) program. Guidance on this can be found at MDE's Nontraditional Program Transition to DPPD webpage. For districts within Washtenaw County, find your SCECH coordinator on the Michigan Online Educator Certification System.
