High Point and Honey Creek come together for "One School, One Book"

WISD's High Point program partnered up with Honey Creek Community School for March is Reading Month, participating in a month-long series of lessons and activities together. The "One School, One Book" brought classrooms from both High Point and Honey Creek together during dedicated time every week for four weeks. The project featured the book, "My Big Brother Troy." The project helped students build their literacy skills and celebrated each other's differences.
"In 'My Big Brother Troy,' Troy communicates differently," shared Michelle Manthei, WISD Teacher Consultant. "The story is from his brother's viewpoint and shares how the two siblings have fun together. They're more alike than they are different and they have a beautiful bond."
The lessons included reading the story together and different activities that showed how each student is unique, and then celebrates that.
